When you are anxious, you might experience tics such as twitching eyes, legs, arms, or a spasm in your throat muscle. These physical sensations may even last for a few days before disappearing. These tics are a symptom of anxiety that occur as a result of muscle tension caused by stress.


Children with Tourette syndrome may have additional comorbid neuropsychiatric conditions such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorder, and oppositional defiant disorder (ODD)-Symptoms generally begin before a child is eight years old. They include irritable mood, argumentative and defiant behavior, aggression, and vindictiveness.

What can cause sudden tics?
Tics can happen randomly and they may be associated with something such as stress, anxiety, tiredness, excitement or happiness. They tend to get worse if they're talked about or focused on.



Infection. Researchers have found mixed results about whether certain children are more likely to develop tics following infections. In some children, tics may suddenly appear, or suddenly become worse, following a streptococcal (strep) infection,
